Almost Free- The Backup Plan [mini review]

Only two bloody exams are left, and then? Pure, unadulterated freedom. Bliss, tranquility, calm seas, pretty books. Love. Anywaay. I saw the Backup Plan today, with NiSara from Beneath the Kohl and another one of my girlfriends- and I have to say SWEETEST MOVIE EVER? I think so. Its about a woman, who wants a family but doesnt have a man in her life, so she decides to get a sperm donor thing going. As soon as shes preggers- oops, perfect man shows up except- he doesn't want kids. It slightly reminded me of this blogger I follow, Single Infertile Female, but since it was a movie after all, it wasnt realistic one bit. But nonetheless, it was adorable. It was a happy movie, the kind you watch when you're feeling down. It flowed pretty smoothly, had its funny bits, which were actually funny and not forced like SOME 'rom-coms' I could mention [Valentine's Day anyone?] and over all, it was really really sweet. I loved the music in it too! I'm totally going to get the soundtrack. Over all, even though this isnt much of a review- I give it 3.5 stars on the Rom-Com Movie theme. If you're a sucker for romance, you'll love this one! PLUS ITS FUNNY. And J-Lo is so sexy! Even when pregnant, shes gorgeous, and I love her pretty dresses in the movie!
Aaah, sometimes I wish I could wear such beauties. Oh well. Gotta go, Much Love, CLG

They Made a HOVER BOARD?

So anyone who has read the amazing books by Scott Westerfeld- Uglies, Pretties, Specials and Extras- will know about Hover Board. Just like skate boards, except they make you fly! [Sort of]

Well, a french artist has managed to come up with something similar!

Isnt it cute?
Check out the entire article here!

This is so freaking amazing. If they've managed to make something like this, I'm sure they'll figure out how to make proper boards which you can actually ride and fly soon!

Lost in the Blogsphere/Giveaway/Award

So today, I was searching for blog backgrounds and headers. And I stumbled upon a million background website, but I couldn't find the perfect background/header combo you know? So, I decided to chose this, since it comes pretty close to what I wanted.
Since Im a total newbie here, I'm going to keep experimenting until I get the perfect look, so guys, dont be alarmed if everyday this page has a new look! It could happen.

Anyway, yeah yeah, I know I should be studying for physics *throws up in mouth* but guess what I've been doing? Watching the 1st season of Lost.
Yeah. Whata perfect time to start watching the tv show. I know. But its pretty good so far. Oh, dont get me wrong, Glee still wins over EVERYTHING, but Lost is pretty good too. If you dont know anything about it heres a crude summary: People get marooned on an island after their plane crashes. The island is extremely creepy and mysterious and well, you'll have to watch it, to know what Im talking about.

Anywaaay. Guess what guys? I GOT AN AWARD!

Yup. The beautiful Sara Hassan has presented me with this award:
I admit, I was super excited when i saw my name in her list! It was an amazing surprise and made me go from this: :/ to this: :D.
Sara, thankyou SO much!  --> :D

Haha anyway so here are the 'rules' as they call em.

-give this award to 10 sweet bloggers
-make a post about this award including the picture and mention the person who gave it to you
-put the award on your blog
-let your nominated 10 know you've awarded them by leaving a comment

Here are the ladies who I think deserve this award!
  1. Sara Hassan (AWESOME makeup blog!)
  2. Saleeha (Quirky 'mundane' life stories.)
  3. NiSara (In her own words: An 18 year old 'hell-bent on changing the nation.')
  4. GreenBeanTeenQueen (Book Blog! -gotta love them books. Plus she was the first book blogger I followed!)
  5. Kanwalful ( In her words: If you're looking for substandard humor, evil jokes, unwanted criticism and opinionated rambling my blog is the place to be.)
  6. Single Infertile Female aka S.I.F (A lovable, strong woman.)
Yes, I realize these are only six. Dont worry, I'll add more names later!

I also entered another giveaway! Because we all know, thats my thing.
http://lafemmereaders.blogspot.com/2010/05/review-giveaway-amy-rogers-epic-detour.html
This book sounds reeeeaallly good. I hope I can win it.

In other news, I read Spells yesterday, the sequel to Wings. It was an AWESOME sequel, and guess what? I even wrote a huge review on it, pictures included. Where the hell is it?
Well. Firefox crashed. I know, I know blogger is supposed to save the drafts right? Wrong.
Thats what I thought too, but when I logged in again, only the FIRST TWO LINES had been saved!
That was an FML moment right there.

Oh well. I'll write another later.

Gotta go,
Much Love,

This Is Getting Ridiculous

They blocked Youtube and even WIKIPEDIA.
Dont they get it?
IT WONT FUCKING HELP.

The international media is having a field day with this. We've given them so much fuel that we won't hear the end of this for the next 30 years.  You shut people up with logic and thought, not by sticking your head in the ground. What good will that do? The group is still accessible to millions and the page relevance that link everyone posted in their statuses has given it worldwide exposure. So we started with 300 people in that group to a full-grown 100,000+ now following the group thanks to the free PR we gave it.
I read this on some forum, and I TOTALLY agree.

Also, what the fuck, you can block youtube, but what about Porntube? Yeah, because watching porn is totally Islamic! [uh-NOT].
The stupid people in this country, and who run it repeatedly give Muslims all over a bad name.

I'm seriously very frustrated by all this bullshit.
One things for sure.
Giving the haters logic as to why its wrong and clearly is NOT 'freedom of speech' is not getting us anywhere.

Uff. I have so much to say on this, but it'll all be repetitive.
Pakistan should have just ignored it, reported it to facebook, AND BE DONE WITH IT DAMNIT.

We have so many problems going on atm, electricity, stupid political-party killings etc etc and THIS is what they choose to focus on? What. The. Fuck.

This is getting ridiculous.

Love and Sadness,

CLG

Facebook Banned in Pakistan?! [aaand Giveawaays!]

Its pretty funny actually. The whole banning facebook in Paki thing. And they have actually done it. Now whenever you do go to the fb homepage, it just gives a big 'This Site Is restricted' sign.  Heres what its all about:

"A Pakistani court has issued a ban on the social networking site Facebook after a user-generated contest page encouraged members to post caricatures of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).

The Lahore High Court on Wednesday instructed the Pakistani Telecommunications Authority (PTA) to ban the site after the Islamic Lawyers Movement complained that a page called “Draw Mohammed Day” is blasphemous. "

"Pakistan has 45 million Facebook users, according to lawyers.

The Facebook page for "Everybody Draw Mohammed Day" had just over 40,000 supporters while the opposing "Against Everybody Draw Mohammed Day" had more than 53,000.  "

All I can say is Wow. The haters really out did themselves this time.
A lot of my friends were posting links to such events [Yes eventS, it was more than one], so we could report them, and I naturally checked a few out- before getting completely disgusted.
Guess what one said, under 'more info'?
'WE DONOT MEAN TO OFFEND ANYONE'

Um.

You're disrespecting my religion.
You're inviting other people to participate in your bullshit.
I definitely wont get offended. Of course I wont silly boy!

For God's sake guys. Seriously?

Our world is usually not a happy place.
Theres hunger, poverty, pain and a lot of other miscellaneous suffering. Now what can we do to improve it? I know! Lets make disrespectful and entirely hurtful events on popular networking sites! I mean hey, freedom of speech right?
Wrong.

This way, you're just generating a lot of hate towards yourself, and towards people of your country. Most people aren't going pay much attention to the person who created the event, but his/her religion and nationality will definitely register.
American? Christian? Jew?
Well, lets add a whole bunch of ticks to the 'Why We Hate The Christians/Jews' column.
[Dont be alarmed, I DEFF have nothing against other religions. I'm not that stupid. There is no compulsion in religion.]
For God's sake- 40,000 supporters?!
And then they ask why the extremists hate them so much.
I mean, come on.

Sometimes, people can be extrememly stupid.

In my opinion, the Paki people maybe reacted a bit too much. Banning facebook wont really work will it? The haters will just get a chance for more critism, saying things like how 'backward' we are and how facebook is 'better off without the Paki pigs' [yeah someone actually said that]. I mean, yeah, we might manage to make them stop the bullshit on facebook, but it wont help change their opinions and look at us positively will it?
No it wont.
What they SHOULD have done, in my opinion was just not take part in those events and ask facebook to remove them [by reporting]. Creating a huge scene like this will probably fuel more conversations of how in our culture/country/religion, we're 'suppressed' and dont have 'freedom of speech'.
I mean instead of starting such (internet) wars, cant you just work with the 'mutual respect and peace for all' notion?
Thats like saying, I can go up and start swearing at you all I want, fuck you bitch! Because hey, I CAN SAY WHAT I WANT, its freedom of speech!
It may be, but it doesn't make it right, does it?

Anyway. If you would like to help out guys, just try not to join such events [obviously] and report as many as you can. Plus all us Pakis were going to 'boycott' facebook on the 20th. So if you could just not check your walls tomorrow, we'd be pretty grateful!

Okay. That said, lets move on to some positive and SEXY stuff.

I entered a few more amazing giveaways! I'm seriously hooked.

Things That Piss Me Off

Warning: May contain 'crude' language, jabs at parental incompetence and general hate for the world.

Please:Dont be alarmed. This list is part of a bigger one.

1. This blog layout.
Have you noticed, all my pictures and some of my widgets dont seem to fit?
I spent a good hour looking up how to fix it, but [apparently] the only fucking option is that I revert to the 'Stretch' template. I DONT WANT TO DO THAT. I want an adorable background but with like a middle lighter colour for the posts and other stuff. I know I'm a noob when it comes to blogging, so I decided to google blogger backgrounds that allowed it. The result? NOTHING.
They either charged too much, or wernt pretty enough. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME OUT? Its driving me crazy!

2. My sisters.
I've already ranted a bit about them in a previous post. But seriously. I feel like fucking BREAKING SOMETHING whenever I have a fight with them. Especially Amy. Amy is a bitch. I hate Amy. Amy thinks shes the shit.
Amy, is wrong.
Amy can GO AND FUCKING DIE.
And when mother dearest starts siding with Amy, my suspicions of being adopted come back, stronger and clearer then ever.
Sometimes, Amy can be fun. She can even be NICE at times! [You know its a big deal when you make in capitals AND italics]
But that, is rare.
Amy is like, amazing at annoying the FUCK out of me. She really is. I gotta hand it to her. She takes the prize there [sorry, Delerium!].
Okay so you wanna know what she does that is so offending?
-She takes my things without asking. And if she does ask, she gives her request a little push, courtesy of Mom and/or Dad. Then she either a) Never returns them/loses them OR b) Never gives me credit/is never thankful.
-Acts like: shes older than me/ knows better than me/ is better than me/ is a pure soul/ is bubbly and innocent.
I'm the only one who can see through her act. And that sucks.
-Has an attitude problem.
-Is always spying on me.
-Doesnt seem to realize she is just 15, and not 18.

Yeah I know, I maybe confusing/boring you. But really, at this point I dont care. Its MY blog. I can write what I want.
You may notice Im kind of possessive. I hate to share. Its the truth, and its out.
But see, can you really blame me? I have three siblings, and we're all expected to 'share' and 'get along'. I mean what the fuck? I have NO privacy what so ever. They've even taken over my new room, and when I screamed about how I was almost 18 and needed my space, you know what my Mom/Dad said?
'You only get privacy after you're married.'
WHAT THE FUCK OKAY THIS IS NOT THE PURANA FUCKING ZAMANA. HAVE THEY BEEN LIVING UNDER A FUCKING ROCK, DO THEY NOT KNOW THAT CHILDREN, ESPECIALLY TEENS TEND TO GET FRUSTRATED WHEN PARENTS/SIBLINGS CANNOT BACK OFF, FOR EVEN A SECOND?

Ahem.

3. Boys.
Well, if you're a girl, then you know, this one is self-explanatory.
If you disagree, you'll agree sooner or later.

Aah. I have to go study now. Hate to, have to. LITERATURE ON MONDAY. Fuck.

Love & Hate,

CLG.

Why I Love Glee

Some random, reasons why Glee should be on your summer-watching list.

 1. MEG CABOT LOVES GLEE.
Okay, so thats not WHY I love Glee, its one of the reason, or maybe the main reason, why I started watching it in the first place! The other reason is MLIA. They had all these Glee realted posts, so I had to see what all the fuss was about.
Meg Cabot is Epic therefore Glee=Epic.

2. Its about MUSIC and SINGING.
I went through this phase last year, also in 2008 where I was convinced I was the Next Hilary Duff.
No, this isnt sarcasm. I loved HD. Though I dont really NOT like her, its just I listen to other stuff now.
She So Yesterday.
...
No pun intended.
...
Aw, what the hell, you know pun was intended.
ANYWAY.
To cut a LOOONG, big headed story short, I sang at a few school events and all my friends and numerous people agreed I had 'the voice'. I think I lost it somewhere along the way. But with Glee I can at least dream of those happy times, and wish I still had the voice.
Rachel always manages to dash that dream.

3. THIS VIDEO.
Okay, I've been watching this nonstop, AND IT STILL HASN'T GOTTEN OLD.
This is an old song, which has gotten a makeover from Glee.
I LOVE THIS VIDEO.
Okay, before I bore you with an in-depth fluffly analysis, do me a favor and fall in love:

Okay first of all, in the angel getup THEY LOOK SO ANGELIC! [Seriously, no pun intended here]. I love Rachel's golden wings in the end, and how the cheerleaders look so beautiful and innocent in the begining.

Then the whole making-the-song-into-a-movie thing. I LOVED that.
And last but not the least the guys.

 Puck, Jesse or Fin?
Wow, Puck totally had me drooling in the first part. THE MUSKULAR BODZ! And that sexy bad-boy Mohawk. He is seriously, adorably hot.
I never realized Jesse was so good looking you know? I always thought he had this wishy-washy look about him. I'm glad to be proven wrong. And Fin, he was just too cute.

Well ladies, [and gents, if any read this] I guess the winner would have to be Puck.

What do you think? Don't hesitate to leave a comment. I get very excited about those as well.
Also, do you realize I have EIGHT followers now?
Yeah, I scream cool babay.

Oh and:

4- I love how Glee features dramatic irony. [Yes, I have Literature as a subject, shut up.]
Characters like Sue Sylvester never fail to crack me up, and if you know me well, you'll know I LOVE to laugh, but very things succeed in making me do so.

Glee is hilarious, with just the right amount of depth, a whole lot of fun and best of all: SHOW CHOIR!

If you're living under a rock, its time to crawl outa your happy place, and get into mine.
WATCH GLEE.

Lots of Love,

CLG {aka, a huge Gleek}

In three days, my A level exams will start. And no, I have not started studying yet.
This whole 'OMG I didnt study, WTF AM I DOING, I SHOULD STUDY' is actually getting pretty old now.
I mean, do I really think saying all of these things, and obsessing about not studying will GET me anywhere?
No. I dont.
But I still do it.
*shoots self*

Anyway, enough about that.
SO, its was Mother's Day on Sunday. My sister, Amy  [not her real name] and I were thinking of surprising her later, in the evening with something nice, since Mom had forgotten that it was MD. But then, Amy's friend sent her a text message: 'HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! This is for all the lovely mothers out there, who make us feel special! I love you!'
Major surprise FAIL.
I didnt know actually. Mom and I were out shopping and I asked her, 'Mom, you said 'thanks' to Zanna, what was that all about?'
Mom: 'She sent me a lovely mothers day message.. unlike my own daughters'
And I swear, it really did sound like her words were in italics.

So OBVIOUSLY this called for desperate measures. All of us contributed enough money to buy my mom, whos a HUGE chocoholic, enough choclate to last her a month.
It cost a LOT thought. Nearly one thousand rupees. But it was worth it! Her huge smile on seeing the candy was immensely heart warming. Not to mention the cute last minute card.
All in all, Mother's Day was pretty good.
How was YOUR Mother's Day spent?

In other news, I'm eating Chicken Biryani at the moment, and it is absolutely deeleeesh. And to all the desis reading my blog, yes, the red squiggly line DID show up on words such as 'Biryani'.
Chicken Biryani, with Raita=<3 [Basically spicy chicken rice, with yogurt]

So I was reading a bazillion book blogs the other day, and I have come to the conclusion that a personal book blog is something I shouldn't be doing. It either has to be a personal blog, or a book blog. So heres what I'm going to do, I'll make another blog, just for all the book stuff, and I'll keep this one for any and every other thing.

For example, did you know The Grudge 3 is out? I didn't, until I caught my sisters watching it the other day. I couldnt join them since I was too tired/had other stuff to do, but after these wretched exams are over I am deff going to plop down, with two huge bowls of Extra Extra Butter Popcorn, and Honey Butter Popcorn and watch all the amazing movies I'm missing.

Movies I Cannot WAIT to Watch [but have to]/Am Waiting For:
  1. The Grudge 3
  2. Dear John
  3. The Last Song
  4. Remember Me
  5. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
  6. Beastly
  7. Kick Ass
Okay so these are just a few, right from the top of my head. I'll add other names to this list later.
What about you, what movies are you saving up/waiting to watch in the summers? Remember, comments are very much appreciated!

Oh, one more thing I wanted to talk about.
As you might have noticed, I've been taking part in a lot of giveaways recently. The thing is, some of them have ended, but NO winners have been announced! I get that they might have contacted the winner through email, but I feel that they should also announce the winner/s on their blog! Its much easier to accept you lost that way, and not keep thinking things like 'Oh wait, maybe they forgot to announce the winner! I have to obsessively keep checking this blog to find out who won.'

So please, if you're a blogger who does this, just announce the winner on your page, it will take less than 5 minutes, I promise!
Haha, okay I've bored you guys enough.

On a funny note, this video will have you amused in no time, because its Shane Dawson. The guy knows how to blow your mind.
WARNING: Do NOT watch this if you're easily offended!

Love,
CLG

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

From GoodReads:
For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her...until Patch comes along.
With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment, but after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is far more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.

So, instead of cracking the good ol' Bio book open, I decided, what the heck, and finished Hush, Hush. I have to admit, I didnt know if I'd like it or not. I've read some reviews of it. All of them were positive of course but they all said how it was about a lot of action and stuff. So, even though I had the book for a while, I didn't read it immediately.
But then I decided, what the heck. People kept on raving about it, it topped many 'Want to Read' and 'Books I Love' lists, the romance was supposed to be great and well, all I can say is, I'm glad I did.

Hush, Hush was AMAZING :D
I'll give it 3.5 stars, out of 5.

Warning, the below MAY contain spoilers.

The romance between Nora and Patch is purely electric. The sparks fly the moment they meet, and all you want the to do is shut the hell up and kiss already! That was probably one of the most annoying parts of the book. The suspense was really dragged out, to the point where it got super annoying. I mean,at times I wanted to rip my hair out and ask Patch why he was being so secretive! But I guess the whole point of writing it in Nora's POV was this. Becca Fitzpatrick is a seriously talented writer. She makes you feel Nora's angst and annoyance in a very believable way, [which may, or may not be a good thing at times!] and you have NO idea whats going to happen, till the very end. One thing this book isn't, is predictable. I had no idea whatsoever that the ending would be the way it was.
The other positive thing about Hush, Hush is that its a book all wrapped up at the end. A sequel would be nice [and there is one, coming out] but the reader doesn't really demand one. It could be a stand alone novel, and you would be pretty happy with it!
Something that annoyed me, a bit though, was Nora herself. At times, she seemed a little fluff brained, and week at the knees, always needy and very confused. But I guess even though the ending proved she was strong enough, I would have liked to see that strength at other instances in the novel too!
I like the whole thing about Angels, its a pretty refreshing take on the fantasy/paranormal element, and in all honesty, I'm really getting sick of all the Vampire books out there!

*end of possible spoilers*

Overall, Hush, Hush was a GREAT read. I picked it up, and couldn't put it down until I got to the very last page. Its the sort of book which leaves a happy, fuzzy glow inside of you, and the romance, even though is harmless enough is well described and [in my book] pretty steamy. [The perfect sort, if you ask me.]
I can't wait for the sequel!

Thats it for now..

Much love,

CLG.

Baby Steps and A LOT OF GIVEAWAYSSS!!

Have I ever mentioned by brother? He is one year old and super adorable.
He just had his first birthday on the 3rd of April, and today, he took his first steps! Yes, our little bundle of joy can finally walk!
I was very excited. I mean hes been crawling up a storm for quite a few months now, and today he finally walked in a line, albeit a wobbly one, right up to me. He was laughing too, the whole way, which made it even more adorable and OHSOCUTE!
Haha I love him.
It was a total 'AAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWW' moment.

But then while I hugged him, he bit my shoulder.
And that folks, was definitely NOT an 'AAWW' moment.

In other news, today, I was whiling away time, as per usual. I stumbled through many book blogs, and for some amazing reason, most of them seemed to be having drool-worthy, and VERY sexy giveaways!

First Exam?

Its a little more than a week away. Seriously? Seriously. Today as per normal, I was thinking about myself. Of how much I have changed. I have changed a lot. And I do not like it one bit. Oh fuck. Dropped my iPod again. I need a break. It isn't likely. I HAVE stuck the AS Level time table on my door. But actually studying, is an entirely different story. Today in Physics, I was even more depressed than usual. I realized that I had a million question, but zero guts. Because that's what its come down to. Guts. Courage. I'm scared of being laughed at, at being ridiculed, and that fear is pushing me swiftly into the shadows. I have realized that my school is special, but not in the way I thought it would be. It is special for people who are strong, hardworking and don't need a sharp kick, once in a while. People who know the actual meaning of 'responsibility' and actually act upon it. It is not for people like me. And that will be my undoing. Okay that totally sounded poetic. But no. I mean, fuck okay, in my old school, I seriously did not give a second thought to what the 'others' might think. I was confident, popular and had a strong circle of friends. Yes, I didn't get amazing grades, [except for English and math],but that was purely because I was too carefree. My and my friends were too focused on having a good time then actually pay attention to what the the teacher was saying, though the days I DID pay attention, I had no problem in getting my misunderstandings cleared. The teachers were losers, only good at their subject nothing else. My fellow classmates were nice but I wasn't in awe of them, and the best thing was, I knew they wouldn't be purposely mean to me, just for 'something to talk about'. Okay, Its not as if it was all rainbows and sunshine, but it was better than this. Way better. My teachers here are full of themselves. And I hate that. I'm doing okay in Bio because my teacher- even though 'full of herself' is a pretty darn good one. She makes us do things, stays in touch, and actually cares she has an acid tongue, but the thing is, she doesn't single people out and sneer at them for not being the smartest in class or for not trying. She, in her own way, motivates us, asks for our opinions and in her own twisted way, makes us care. We share a love hate relationship, but I dearly hope she is the one teaching me next year as well. My Physics and Chem teachers? Yeah they hate me. And I have to say, sometimes? The feeling is pretty mutual. They're everything Ms M is not and more. And yeah, they do the singling-out thing pretty well, if you ask me. I think I may go to Lahore for my second year after all. The thing is, I'm really confused. If I go to Lahore, I will definitely get all the help I need studies-wise, but I'll be missing out on all the amazing activities here! But I guess, thats not that big of a sacrifice. I'll still get to see my friends, since I'm sure I wont completely uproot myself from here, but I dont know. Its a lot to think about. And I need to get through these torturous exams first. I need help. Or maybe, I need to grow up, stop whining and face the cold and bitter truth: This is my life, and waiting around for someone to come and fix it up will be a waste of it. I gotta slay my own dragon. I have to rescue me. Ah. I'm so messed up. Whatever. We'll see. Shut up brain. CLG.
